I am the creator of ThinkParenting.com, author of Teach Your Kids to Think: Simple Tools You Can Use Every Day, teacher, and mother. Parents deserve the opportunity to know the core of what our best teachers and researchers know about learning. My aim is to help parents, educators, and organizations build and nurture learning environments that prepare today's kids for their 21st century adult lives. Friendly, high-quality, research-based support for next generation learning- that's what I'm about.
My personal learning journey thus far has marked by traditional milestones: a distinguished bachelor's degree in psychology at the University of Virginia (Go Hoos!), a Masters in preschool through middle school education at Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Educational Studies at the University of Michigan. Working with parents and other educators has allowed me to contribute and stretch as a member of dynamic, thought-provoking groups. I have directed an alternative certification program for teachers; provided professional development for parents, teachers and administrators; served as a consultant to schools and school districts; and contributed to a project on digital games.
I love living in Santa Barbara, California, with my husband, two boisterous boys, and a bit of dust.
I lead interactive workshops with parents, school teachers, and other educators. Expect energetic and optimistic thinking, talking, moving, learning, and goal-setting. See more about workshops.
I write. I write articles, blog posts, proposals, presentations, and evaluations. I'm also working on another book.
I can be a part of your team. Leading, managing, and/or participating in the rewarding (and sometimes unnerving) process of change in your organization would be an honor.
